Mosley Really Wants to Fight Pacquiao. What is So Wrong With That??

Future 1st ballot Hall of Famer Sugar Shane Mosley has just thrown out his final shot in attempt to lure Pound 4 Pound king Manny Pacquiao into a megafight. He released a press release today stating he would come down to fight Pacquiao at his weight of 140. Forget catch-weights, he is willing to fight Pacquiao for the Ring Magazine and IBO Jr. Welterweight crown. Pretty ‘Ballsy’ I’d say. Now will he get the fight? Probably not, Team Pacquiao(Bob Arum and company) will not allow Shane Mosley and Manny Pacquiao to fight. I still think that Pacquiao-Mosley would be the biggest fight. But what the heck do I know, I am a little known writer with an opinion. The question now is what will Cotto do. More then anything else this increases Pacquiao’s leverage over him when it comes to a catch weight.

140, Could Mosley Really Make It

Do I think he could, yes. Do I think he could do it safely, maybe. I wouldn’t advise it. But when you want to fight the best you have give into their demands. When it comes to a catch weight and everything else only one man calls the shots. And that is Manny Pacquiao. Anybody who thinks otherwise is not being honest. When you are on top you get to call the shots. So if Pacquiao says 143 for a Cotto fight, Cotto needs to come to 143. If you want to be the man, you have to beat the man on his terms.

I admire Mosley’s courage for making such an offer. Some will say that he is desperate, or that he needs the money, etc. Those people are fools. Yes it is better to make 6 or 8 million fighting Pacquiao, rather then making 2 or 3 million fighting Andre Berto. But do you really believe Mosley would really risk coming down to 140 to fight Pacquiao just for the money. If you do, you are an idiot. Plain and simple. Mosley is a multi-millionaire. He could retire today and be happy on what has currently. The man wants to fight the best fighter in the world pound for pound, Manny Pacquiao. He wants to do it for his legacy. And he wants to do it by any means neccessary. Don’t we like it when great fighters want to fight other great fighters? Some may think this is an act of desperation. But to me this is courage.

Will Pacquiao and Cotto Still Happen on November 14th

Yes, it probably will. Like I said Team Pacquiao had no intentions of fighting Sugar Shane Mosley. And Mosley has called their bluff. The only person who wants to fight Shane Mosley is Manny Pacquiao. But Manny would fight anybody anywhere. Manny is the only person who could override Bob Arum and his advisors. This 140 pound ploy, definitely puts a wrench in the weight negotiations with Cotto. I mean how can Cotto now go to Pacquiao with straight face and say 145 or no fight. Come on. He will have to come down to 144 or 143. Pacquiao and his team now have the leverage over Bob Arum.

Gotta Love It

You gotta love this. I mean how can’t you. Everybody wants to fight the greatest fighter of his generation, Manny Pacquiao. I mean if Cotto or Mosley step into the ring with Pacquiao, it will get a great fight. There is nothing like big fight hype, and this just feeds into it.
