SHOCKER! HAYE PULLS OUT VS. VITALI BUT SIGNS FOR VALUEV

Valuev-Haye on for November 7th

On the eve of the press conference to announce the fight, ex-world cruiserweight champion David Haye spurned a WBC title fight against Vitali Klitschko on September 12th and instead will challenge WBA heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev on November 7th. No site for Valuev-Haye yet, but it is expected to land in Germany (Vitali Klitschko had a press conference set for tomorrow in Frankfurt). Haye, who has now left both Klitschko brothers standing at the altar, released a statement of explanation to the German boxing public.

Dear German Boxing Fans,

This is David "The Hayemaker" Haye , the soon-to-be world heavyweight champion, and there are some interesting things I‘d like to tell you about. First of all, let me express my gratitude for your steady support in the last few months – it really means a lot to me. Please keep it up.

There have been reports in the German press that I have signed to fight Vitali Klitschko in September. That is not true. There have been long and exhausting discussions about the clash but unfortunately I could never put my name under the fight contract that the Klitschko's offered to me. The level of disrespect they have shown me throughout the entire process has left me feeling insulted. As for the contract, now that I realise just how much support and interest that I have had from the people in Germany, signing it would have been like selling my soul to the devil. I will not be a slave fighter.

Through mutual friends and coincidence my manager Adam Booth and I happened to come in touch with Kalle Sauerland. We hit it off straight away and reached a deal in a heartbeat. I am thrilled to announce that I will realise my dream of becoming the world heavyweight champion in November when I will challenge the biggest and tallest champion of all time, Nikolai Valuev on November 7th. Mark my words: I will be the first man to put him on the floor. I will slay the giant and take his title. It will be a true David vs. Goliath battle – and you know how the first clash ended some thousands of years ago.

Once I have snatched Valuev's title, I will be happy to battle out
heavyweight supremacy with the Klitschkos, but ONLY under equal and fair terms. As the WBA heavyweight champion, I should be able to fight them without having to sign my life away. I only hope that they still want to fight me after I have slayed the beast!

See you in November when David will be flattening Goliath once again.

Yours truly,

David “The Haymaker” Haye
